I go through this each morning! Eve when I have twists/braids etc. “to pin up or not to pin up?”
Anderson: On the red carpet for the Oscars last year you changed your look… kind of and it seemed to flip people out. People were writing about this, blogging about this. And Gabby at the Olympics recently, when she did really well I saw people commenting about her hair and stuff. I just thought it really odd that people notice this so much. Do you find it strange that people comment on how you appear so much?

A Day in the Life of THIS Natural Girl [12-20-12]
6:30am Wake up with my night protective style. Spend 30 min figuring out today’s outfit! 7am Finally shower, dress and listen to my motivational ratchet music during the process.
7:20am Try to figure out hair style before ride calls.
7:25 throw a headband over large Afro, pack lunch, grab breakfast 7:30 run out door for ride! The continues as normal. Between
7:45-8:30 there are random as states at my hair by black, white, Hispanic and other men, women and children!
8:30am began work and get states from coworkers and “friends” alike.
9:30am by now I’ve had at least 2 “what going on with your hair” comments.
12pm By now I’ve had more states and about 3 more “when you gonna get your hair done” comments
3pm by now I’ve had a least a total of 10 direct and indirect comments, snickers, points, and sly remarks about my hair.
5pm by now I’ve come to the conclusion that our society is completely fucking brain washed by the European culture and need to recognize I was BORN with this hair “untamed” and I damn sure don’t plan to tame it because our society is afraid to BE THEMSELVES!
6pm by now I have laid out my after hrs outfit, added a head wrap and smile because I’m on my way to be around those that accept me and appreciate me for who I am. Whom also recognize their natural hair as a part of THEM and not some foreign bullshit like weaves and creamy crack clearly are!
7pmAs I leave my house of course I get the “you not gonna do your hair?” from my anything ass uncle -__-
CONCLUSION: Why can’t people worry about their own damn head? Their own fucked up weaves, no edges, burnt scalps, flakes, never going to grow and unhealthy shit! that is all =)
P.S. I had an AWESOME night with my girls!
It’s amazing that it’s considered revolutionary to wear my hair the way it grows out of my head..
